Placing saw cuts and positioning model pins are the final steps in creating an AG Inhouse model.

The number of saw cuts to be placed can be changed under the Planes [1] tab. The left mouse key should be clicked on one of the circles [2] between the teeth of the dental arch to remove or add a saw cut.

The "Automatically hide base plate" [3] function is activated as default. This hides the base plate automatically as soon as it is likely to obscure the view of the scan data.

Generation of the model segments is started by activating the Start button [4]. It should first be ensured that all saw cuts are correctly positioned and pins to be taken into consideration have been selected.

TipIt is also possible to change the positioning of the saw cuts or selection of the pins again after creating the model segments and to generate the model anew.

Positioning and customising the saw cuts

The saw cut must be positioned, so as to prevent contact with a preparation taking into account the width of the gap. If a saw cut is placed too close to the preparation margin, the base of the crown is marked red and the position must be corrected.

The saw cuts can be changed in four different ways:

1. Rotating the saw cut


The saw cut can be rotated about the yellow point by clicking the left mouse key on a green point [1].

2. Positioning the saw cuts


The saw cut can be dragged to any position by pressing the left mouse key on a yellow point [2].

3. Adjusting the height of the saw cut

The height of the saw cut can be adjusted by simultaneously pressing the Control key and the left mouse key on a yellow point [2].

TipWhen using this function, the model segments should be checked to ensure they are complete (e.g. contact points) after generation.


4. Inclining the saw cuts


The saw cut can be inclined by simultaneously pressing the Control key, Shift key and the left mouse key on the surface of the saw cut [3].

TipWhen placing saw cuts, it should be ensured that there are not too many overlapping saw cuts. This could result in problems during generation of the model segments.

Selection of the pin holes

The required pins are marked by a left click in this step for subsequent positioning and fixation of the model segments on the MM base plate. The marked pins are highlighted in yellow.

Tip It is recommended to display the model slightly transparent for a better control during pin selection.

Once all saw cuts and pins have been correctly positioned and aligned, model generation is started by activating the Start button [4].

TipIf sections of the model are not generated, there may be different causes:
  1. Faulty scan.
  2. Too many saw cuts intersect.
  3. A saw cut crosses through a pin.
  4. A pin was selected that is located outside the scan.
  5. A pin was selected that penetrates the scan.
  6. A pin was selected that does not maintain the minimum distance to a preparation.
